So I’ve been super busy this week and haven’t had time to post. A lot of my time has been spent revising –both my work and others’. I thought what I needed, and hey, maybe even you need, is a little comic relief. Enjoy!

More Lesser-Known Editing Symbols:
How did I go on the misguided Google hunt that led me to these lovely nuggets? I realized I’d never really known the proper way to make the paragraph symbol. Sad, I know.
Credit for the above works of genius goes out to: Brian Klems of WD and Eve Corbel.

Insert under short leg of table? Ouch!
At least while writing picture books I should avoid getting the “more chicka chicka wow wow”
LOL. Let’s hope!
Hahahaha!! I actually use the editing symbols at work — I work at a law office — but the lesser known ones are HILARIOUS!! ^_^
Teehee. I know. I love the Pringles one.
Love these! I think my editor would love to use some of the lesser known ones
Ha –I was thinking the same thing.
I hate to think how many of those lesser known ones get used on my work in secret…
Very funny – thanks for giving my day a giggle.
If we only knew….
I totally love these! I definitely need the axe one now and again. And the googly eyes every once in awhile. And what do I crave…? The adverb in a box. *sighs LONGINGLY*
Reblogged this on Laura Lee Anderson and commented:
Hey writing friends! I am editing my butt off, and so is my buddy EB Pike. She posted this hilarious editing blog. Definitely worth a read!
Thankies for the reblog, L!
I like the boxing”characters should fight!” one. Actually, that’s a good one to remind us about creating tension!
Totally! I still love your advice on threads of conflict, btw. I hope your book arrived by now!
Oh, yes. I have it! Thank you so much! Can’t wait to sink my eyeballs into it.
Yay!
As an editor, I still prefer to write out “Needs more Bow-Chicka-Bow-Bow.”
Ha! Too bad they haven’t invented sound effects for editing yet. You could just cue to the “bow-chicka-wow-wow” music.
Ha! Brilliant.
I love the internet and the absolute gems it provides sometimes.
Ain’t that the truth! I love Google sometimes.
All symbols unknown to me. Looks like chinese to my unpupiled eyes
LOL, I love it. Especially the “coffee spill…my bad”. Sounds just like me.
Ah good, someone needs to clear these things up! They’re like doctor’s scribble aren’t they, an unknown series of pictographs that only fellow professionals can read?
Love them and remember them. TY!
